Now that Micah is two and all his baby teeth (well, except for molars) have come in, we decided it was time to take away the pacifier (bapi, as Micah calls it!). Because it worked pretty well when we did it this way for Chloe, we cut the tip of the pacifiers off, and then let him discover that they were broken. He was a bit obsessed with the pacifiers, and slept with one in his mouth, one in his hand, and three in a plastic tub next to his pillow. So, I cut all of them and put them back in the tub. He reached in, grabbed one, and stuck it in his mouth. He said, "uh oh," and picked out another and another. He asked Andrew to fix them, and then said, "show Mommy." He and Andrew brought me the broken pacifiers, and I talked with Micah about how they were broken. He then went to bed with just a stuffed animal and minimal crying. It was so easy!!
